PRIVATE VOCAL  INSTRUCTION

Do you feel that break in between "chest voice" and "head voice?"  Feel tightness when trying to sing higher? Improving muscle tone and control will allow you to achieve balance and properly sing in your "mix." This creates a consistent tone with no audible break between your lower and higher notes, no uncomfortable
(& damaging) straining, and no loss of power in your upper range!
I have developed my own style of teaching after over 20 years of studying with renowned instructors, including founders of the speech level singing technique.  I focus on the physiology of singing, and developing the muscles needed to finely control your voice and sing safely.  This control also allows for versatility: once you know how to control your voice you can sing all styles, from broadway to pop to classical and everything in between.

By listening to the singer closely, I can assess what we need to work on from this physiological perspective.  I teach warm ups and exercises that will help achieve our desired results - much like a personal trainer would help you work out at the gym.  In addition, we work on songs (either a song that will be performed or a song chosen for practice purposes) that will help the singer learn to apply these vocal techniques to the actual performance.

I also like to focus on sight-reading for singers, which is especially important for musical theatre students that need to readily learn harmonies.
Learning how to properly train
& control the muscles used when singing
protects your
voice from injury, and enables
you to create
the sound
you want.
